We got a lot of work done on the inventory back in August, but there's
still a little more inventory work to do and then we get to assess the
information! :-)

I hit enter for a break and it hit send! As I was saying, we could
use help with finishing up the inventory:

Some have commented that they weren't really sure what was needed and
what they could actually do to help out. Here goes. :-) (Keep in
mind that you can always reply to these posts for more information,
chances are that others have the same question.)

Right now we're in the middle of working on the "Inventory" (until
March 21, about a week left). What we're doing and what we need your
help with is finding pages all over the Wikimedia sites that are
related to public relations/press/official communications/etc. When
you find pages list them on the inventory page:
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/PR_material_cleanup/Inventory> and
fill out the information about them (only a little). If you don't
know something, it's okay, just leave it blank.

We need your help with this, anything you can do. :-) (This is
especially true for other languages, like de.wp has a ton of pages but
we don't have anyone going through them who speaks German. :-()

If you any questions, feel free to e-mail the list or us privately!

(Replied to on another list, but couldn't CC because of an annoying
mailman security issue.)
I’m still not quite sure what you want from us, it sure looks good. If I
read your message correctly, you ask us all to visit our chapter-wiki and
language projects (i.e. wm-nl and nl-wikipedia, nl-wikibooks, etcetera) and
make an inventory of all pages that are related to marketing, press, public
relations and all other things we think that might fit in the
PR-cleanup-project?
Yes. :-)  Pretty much everything.  If it's too much, then we'll end up
pruning it.  The best thing right now is to include as many things as
possible that are related.
Or do you want us to go trough as many wiki’s as possible?  Or should we run
trough a few selected wiki’s that you provide us with?
You could do that too, but I don't expect there to be as many on other
wikis and we're not necessarily expecting you to do that.  If you do
go through many wikis, you can do whichever you like. :-)
And if I do make an inventory, what should I do with it? I’m not quite sure
that I understand where on [[meta:PR material cleanup/Inventory]] I can add
all “my” pages,
If there are a few on the same wiki, you can just create a section
like == nl.wikipedia == and put them all under there.  If there are
not many, just put it in the "Other wikis" sections.
would it be okay if we’d all just add the found pages to the
talk page and let you both organize the rest?
That would be great too!

They have internal information for press contacts as well and have
many chapters representatives who know lots of wikis, which is why
this concerns them too.

Talking about internal is really fun and all, but does anyone have any
questions about the PR cleanup? :-) Dan, you signed up to help... do
you have any questions? Jon, Rjd, do either of you have questions?

I'm doing my part with the cleanup by pointing out that a press contact
doesn't have full access to stuff; that ought to be cleaned up :).

As for questions, no.

What's the current status of this project? An update would be great.

Hi,
Post by Sean Whitton
What's the current status of this project? An update would be great.
I did part of the relocation a few months ago, when I collected the
main documents into  [[m:WMDOC/*]]. Now that the inventory is mostly
done, I'm inclined to wait for some output from WMDOC (it's ongoing,
slowly but it is; I expect a first set of documents to be published by
the end of the year) before tagging the old documents as obsolete or
deleting them. If someone is willing to go ahead and proceed with the
cleanup, though, I won't object :) In this case, however, please
notify me in advance if possible, so that I devote some time to
working on the relocation in the tables.

Hi,
I’m still not quite sure what you want from us, it sure looks good. If I
read your message correctly, you ask us all to visit our chapter-wiki and
language projects (i.e. wm-nl and nl-wikipedia, nl-wikibooks, etcetera) and
make an inventory of all pages that are related to marketing, press, public
relations and all other things we think that might fit in the
PR-cleanup-project?
The main goals are to:
* identify obsolete documents that could alter or damage our image
* identify all kinds of PR/marketing documents that could be useful

For example, I know that nl.wikimedia.org hosts a press book with
press articles about Wikimedia projects. This is perfectly fine on
nl.wikimedia.org, since as archives they can't be obsolete, and we
wouldn't import them on meta because our local EDP doesn't allow them.
So, this kind of stuff can be skipped in the inventory :) However, if
you are aware of presentations, posters, cheatsheets, leaflets,
handbooks, etc. that are not listed already in the inventory, that's
what we want :)
Or do you want us to go trough as many wiki’s as possible?  Or should we run
trough a few selected wiki’s that you provide us with?
We listed the wikis that are the most likely to host PR material, but
if you are aware of others, please add them.
And if I do make an inventory, what should I do with it? I’m not quite sure
that I understand where on [[meta:PR material cleanup/Inventory]] I can add
all “my” pages, would it be okay if we’d all just add the found pages to the
talk page and let you both organize the rest?
Sure! But don't hesitate to "be bold" :)
